Polyethylene, as no other new generation material, has found application in constructing new and renovating old water, gas, sewer and other pipelines. Its reliability allows to extend range of its application further and further.
One of technologies, which has been successfully applied to renovate pipelines, is Compact Pipe technology. It was used for many years only as a independent liner, but thanks to extensive research on polyethylene pipes properties its range of use has extended to interactive applications.
Several projects completed in recent years allowed to gather a great deal of field experience. Field and laboratory tests proved usefulness of this method. As a result, Compact Pipe becomes an interactive liner, i.e. it works with structure of the existing pipeline and improves its hydraulics and tightness.
Increasing operation pressure in networks substantially enhances its flow capacity and allows to supply gas or water to more and more users. Instead of replacing pipes or carrying out expensive local repairs, we obtain a completely new pipe.
The paper shall describe theoretical basis for using Compact Pipe technology for interactive application. Moreover, it will present a few completed gas, water and oil pipeline renovation projects
Renovated pipelines are regularly monitored and undergo periodic inspection once a year to obtain additional information about their operation. This data is gathered by users and its analysis helps to make investment decisions concerning another projects.
